Nick Toppino

Let’s start this off by me thanking you for subjecting yourself to my opinions and the points of views I have of the world through the lens of my Canon camera. In all honesty, you’re the reason for all of this. Every photo, but deeper than just the photo. You drive the stories I have to tell by listening, and for that there isn’t enough gratitude in the world.

If you don’t know me, then lets get acquainted. My name is Nick Toppino and I am the original Mr. Worldwide. Okay I’m not really, but I did grow up abroad in Japan where I spent the first fifteen years of my life. However, it all came to an end when I decided to move to beautiful Bradenton, Florida to pursue my dreams of playing division one college football. To make this happen I left alone to a boarding school called IMG Academy where I would go on to have a very average career as a punt and kick returner. This gave me the opportunity to play college football at 8 schools across the country. Naturally I picked Tulane University because, well, New Orleans. So here I am, current day, as a sophomore at Tulane. I no longer can play football due to a culmination of injuries and the simple fact that it just wasn’t what it used to be. I’ve always loved creating things and showing people my view on the world. It’s crazy when I think of how far the journey to get here has really been. I can’t wait to take this journey with you. Explanation to the Family: If you know me then most likely your first thoughts of me are, “oh, the kid who plays football.” And for the past five years you would’ve been exactly right. That’s who I was. That’s all that I was it seemed at times. It wasn’t until a trip to Thailand really opened my eyes to what I was missing out on in this beautiful world. I’ve always liked photography and cinematography, but it wasn’t until my friend Delaney Colaio, a photographer and director of the new film We Go Higher, showed me how real my love for this art really was. See before I always thought my creativity and gut instinct to just abandon everything and go find something new and exciting had to take a backseat to my childhood dream that was being a football player. It had been my dream since I was about eleven years old. The more I thought about it though, the more I realised how different of a person I was from not only then, but even just from my junior year of high school. The same passion that once filled my body with excitement was still there, but football was no longer the driving force. For the love of the art and the love of sharing my creations and perspectives with you as the audience has been and will be such an honor to me. It really is more than anything that I could ask for in this life and I can’t wait to take this journey with you all. I’m //justdoinme//
